A first generation American of Iranian and Irish descent, Deputy District Attorney Susan Irene Etezadi grew up in a diverse cultural home with a respect and appreciation for people from varied cultures and backgrounds. A successful prosecutor and caring advocate for victims of violent crimes, Etezadi declared her candidacy for Superior Court Judge, Office #11, San Mateo County in March of 2006.
Etezadi has been a resident of San Mateo County and a prosecutor in San Mateo County for more than 21 years. She has spent her entire professional career in the courtroom were she has prosecuted 71 jury trials to date, 16 of which were homicide cases. In addition, Etezadi has conducted thousands of miscellaneous hearings and court trials over the years. As a result of extensive and varied trial experience, she is very familiar with the general rules of evidence and courtroom procedure and now also files civil lawsuits in the Environmental Crimes Unit of the San Mateo District Attorney's office.
A strong believer in public service and community involvement, Etezadi serves on the Board of the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County and is the Secretary for the Women Lawyers of San Mateo County. In addition, she serves on the faculty of the College of San Mateo, teaching criminal law classes at night.
Etezadi’s campaign has been endorsed by numerous serving and retired Judges as well as public and law enforcement officials. With key endorsements from the Sheriff of San Mateo County, Police Chiefs, and Police Officer Associations, Etezadi is the law enforcement community’s choice in this judicial election.
